Supporting health needs to get people back to work - MV welcomes the launch of WorkWell pilots

Updated: Nov 29

MV welcomes the launch of 15 new WorkWell services, supporting people to get back to work.

Today sees the launch of 15 new local services to support people with health conditions or disabilities to either remain, return or thrive in work.

The WorkWell Programme aims to help 59,000 people that have health-related conditions to get the tailored support they need to stay in or return to work. It focuses on people that are off work sick or have recently left employment with services including physiotherapy and counselling.

Earlier in the year, 15 areas in England were selected to receive government support, as part of the joint Department for Work and Pensions and Department for Health and Social Care initiative. Funded areas include Birmingham and Solihull, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire, North Central London and Cornwall.

Funding was given to Integrated Care Boards to co-ordinate a local response with partners such as councils, JobCentre Plus, primary care and employers. Today, they launch that response.

WorkWell can be seen in the context of the link between health and economic growth, and is an exciting part of a wider aim to integrate health and work. Although conceived and launched under the previous government, the programme responds to a real need for and fits with the new government's focus on growth and its missions to 'kickstart economic growth' (Mission 1) and 'build an NHS fit for the future' (Mission 5).

Mutual Ventures is pleased to supporting be delivery partner on the WorkWell programme, working with our partners in PA Consulting and Collaborate CIC.
