This conversation is with Jane Lewington, the Chief Executive of Navigo, a Community Interest Company providing mental health services in Northeast Lincolnshire.
Jane started her NHS career as an A&E receptionist and has worked her way up to become Chief Executive of a number of NHS Trusts, and now Navigo.
Mental health as an issue has really shot up the agenda in recent times - but not many people know exactly how mental health services work, so Jane does a great job of breaking it down and explaining how it all fits together.
It’s a packed interview and we cover the latest NHS reforms, what they mean for local areas and what it means to be part of a “place” delivering public services.
We also have a frank discussion about the state of the nation in terms of mental health following the pandemic and the challenges that mental health services may face in the next couple of years. It’s probably the most objective and balanced conversation I have had about the trade off between lock down to curtail the spread of the virus and the impact this has on mental health and general well-being.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
