Watch now: Co-operative Values Driven AI – a new guidance framework

Watch our webinar Co-operative Values Driven AI – a new guidance framework.

Councils nationwide are under increasing financial pressure and Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly considered a solution. However, as stewards of critical public services, public service staff and elected members cannot simply embrace the ‘go fast and break things’ mentality prevalent in many parts of the private sector. When they get it wrong, real people’s lives are impacted.

Mutual Ventures has worked with council from the CCIN to develop a guidance framework based on co-operative principles to people assess AI's potential and suitability. It focuses on providing the basic knowledge necessary to ask pertinent questions and ensure the ethical and cooperative exploration and adoption of AI.

This free webinar explored the framework and its practical applications including:

  • The main use cases for AI

  • The key enablers within an organisation

  • Important risks and mitigations

  • How to align the adoption of AI with ethical CCIN principles

The webinar was Chaired by CCIN Chair Cllr Jim Robbins and included contributions from Rob Gregory, Assistant Director Digital Transformation and Intelligence at Wigan Council, and Andrew Laird, the Chief Executive of Mutual Ventures, who co-led the production of the guidance framework.
